Find out about our projects
Wellpro is a vibrant project actor involved in several public health and internationalisation projects with the mission to promote people’s well-being and health. We are active in ecosystems that promote health and well-being. The products developed by Wellpro have the potential to contribute to brain and memory health, mental health, diabetes, healthy ageing and well-being at work. Screening and activation methods can provide data for measuring and monitoring effectiveness.

Projects
1.9.2024-28.2.2025. Wellpro Impact Solutions, Itä-Suomen yliopisto ja Kuopio Health kehittivät osana HealthHub Finland EDIH:n “Testaa ennen investoimista” -palvelua yhteistyössä BitHabit-sovellukseen integroitavan keskustelullisen tekoälypohjaisen virtuaaliassistentin prototyypin.
The Virtual Assistant tailors its responses and advice based on individual user data, helping users to achieve their specific health and fitness goals through natural language interaction. By integrating the Virtual Assistant with BitHabit, users can access information and support instantly, reducing the need for manual searches and increasing overall convenience. The conversational interface encourages users to interact more frequently with the app, increasing their engagement and commitment to their health goals. In addition, the virtual assistant streamlines the information retrieval process, allowing users to quickly get answers to their questions without navigating multiple screens or menus.
This AI-based approach is designed to provide users with a more interactive and supportive experience, helping them to incorporate small, healthy actions into their daily routines.
Wellpro’s Virtual Assistant project has already entered its second phase, where a virtual assistant is being developed and prepared for production use.

2024-2028. Suomen Akatemian rahoittama hanke. PREWELL-konsortion tavoitteena on tutkia digitaalisen seulontatyökalun ja mielen hyvinvointia edistävän digitaalisen intervention kustannusvaikuttavuutta. Tutkimustiedon avulla voidaan tehostaa mielen hyvinvointia rajoittavien tekijöiden ja toisaalta tukevien valmiuksien tunnistamista tarjoamalla yksilöllisiä päivittäisiä pieniä tekoja edistämään mielen hyvinvointia aikuisilla.
The PREWELL consortium will contribute to a high level of scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying mental well-being in adults at high risk of developing mental health problems. Game-based methods will also be used to further develop the digital intervention. The results of the research will provide an opportunity to develop digital tools and create new technological innovations to promote well-being.
The research consortium is led by the Research Centre for Wellbeing Services in the Wellbeing Region of North Savo, and its partners are the Department of Social and Health Management at the University of Eastern Finland and Wellpro Impact Solutions Oy. The international partners of the PREWELL consortium are the London School of Economics, Care Policy and Evaluation Centre in London and the University of Bern, Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in Switzerland. Other national partners include the VTT Centre for Technology Research and the Mieliteko-programme.

Methods: a digital data collection application (BitHabit Mapping) will be targeted to all residents to identify people at high risk of mental health problems, for example, based on various risk factors. These individuals will be offered a digital mental health intervention (BitHabit-Small Actions), possibly enhanced by online lifestyle guidance using an appropriate experimental setting. The estimated number of subjects (inclusion criteria 15-64 years old and living in North Savo) is N=15 000. Digital services will include the BitHabit app and mapping and possible reminder messages. The pilot will model the impact and effectiveness of digital solutions in terms of mental well-being and substance abuse promotion. In addition, the costs of social services related to mental health and substance use will be modelled using social and health economics methods.
1.9.2023-31.11.2024
1.9.2023-31.5.2024. Etelä-Savon hyvinvointialueen (Eloisa) henkilöstöllä on Wellpro Impact Solutionsin kehittämä BitHabit Kartoitus käytössä. Duuniterkkari Oy toteuttaa yhteistyössä Eloisan työhyvinvointiyksikön kanssa hyvinvointipilotin, jonka tarkoituksena on ennaltaehkäistä työntekijöiden väsymistä ja uupumista. Osana pilottia haetaan BitHabit Kartoituksen avulla eväitä työssä ja arjessa jaksamiseen.
The work of social and health care professionals is stressful. They have a high level of responsibility for patients, the work is emotionally demanding, overtime is frequent and patients are treated in a variety of situations.
The BitHabit mapping helps you face the impact of your lifestyle on your wellbeing and well-being. Duuniterkkari’s coach helps the employee to think of himself as a whole and to use his own resources to take control of his own well-being, says Maria Lappalainen, CEO and head coach of Duuniterkkari Oy.
“Duuniterkkari is a wellbeing service that offers preventive encounters to help employees cope with the challenges and changes of everyday life and work before they become overwhelming. Before specialised professional helpers, it is worth activating people’s own resources,” says Lappalainen.
During the pilot, around 200-250 people will be involved. With BitHabit, we will be able to measure impact on a whole new level and produce data for the customer,” Lappalainen continues. A particularly good aspect of BitHabit is its anonymity, which increases reliability.
BitHabit Survey is done anonymously and the feedback remains with the person filling it in, not the employer; says Petteri Sveins, CEO of Wellpro.”
The questions in the BitHabit Survey are tailored to identify the desired lifestyle risk factors to be surveyed. According to current science, the areas covered by the Mapping have the greatest impact on a person’s overall health. The domains are mind (cognition and psychological well-being), movement (recovery and physical well-being), self (satisfaction with one’s own life and well-being) and other (relationships and social well-being).
“The person completing the survey will receive feedback and an index of the different areas. The survey also serves as a mini-intervention,” says Sveins.
1.12.2023-30.6.2024.
In collaboration with HealthHub Finland, Wellpro aims to harness the potential of artificial intelligence to develop virtual assistants that could help people live healthier lives. The aim is to create virtual partners that guide people towards healthier lifestyles by integrating rule-based AI into the BitHabit service. Users can then choose to engage a virtual assistant to help them find, for example, small acts of wellbeing that suit them.
The development service is provided by HealthHub Finland’s partner Kuopio Health and implemented by the Department of Computer Science (Computational Intelligence Research Group) of the University of Eastern Finland as part of its DigiCenterNS services.
It was recognized that a lifestyle survey, free from health claims, can easily reveal the impact of lifestyle and habits on well-being and health.
“I encourage all SMEs with health innovation needs to contact us. We have earmarked almost €500 000 to support tailored services,” advises Henrik Honkanen, coordinator of the HealthHub Finland EDIH project.
